The Director of Applications - Corporate oversees the support for key corporate functions—Human Resources, Legal, Government Affairs, and IT—by managing the design, implementation, planning, and guidance of the corporate systems and applications team. Develops and applies process-driven technical expertise, systems, data, and analytical skills to enhance organizational efficiency and productivity. Optimizes business processes across departments to ensure effective workflows. Leads a team of professionals and offers guidance, support, and development opportunities to foster high performance. Collaborates in a cross-functional team environment to implement and maintain solutions. Manages the execution of functional strategy and operational direction for the department in the short to mid-term. Partners with executive leadership to develop, design, and implement process and technical solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and oversees day-to-day departmental objectives, monitors team deliverables, performance, and provides corrective action when necessary. Assists in providing training for IT staff and business users. Directs departmental team through guidance, administration, maintenance and updates of Corporate Systems and all associated business verticals. Provides leadership for the selection, maintenance, enhancements, training, upgrades, and other core components of the related systems and software. Plans and works closely with the business and internal IT personnel, system vendors and staff as system changes and upgrades are planned, tested, and implemented. Assures modifications and upgrades are successfully tested before implementation to the live environment.

  • Collaborates with IT, Legal, HR, Government affairs and other various departments on system requirements to meet business needs. Partners with cross-functional teams on product evaluations, implementations, and upgrades. Obtains specifications, research, and design of new implementation of systems and process. Creates and enhances process documentation, procedures, and policies. Maintains documentation and works with IT teams and assigned business stakeholders to address concerns on dictated standards and policies.

  • Manages relationships with executives and key stakeholders across business units to support initiatives, requests, and complex escalations. Manages vendor and internal relationships within projects and day-to-day operations for the applications. Determines modifications, upgrades, and testing schedules for financial analysis and applications. Manages project resources, funds, and schedules to ensure responsiveness to business needs.

  • Ensures application inventory, documentation, and modelling for all applications and supported verticals. Utilizes standard reporting tools to write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries for business and IT use. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data to validate against controls.

  • Reviews and approves change management processes over team within defined change control process to ensure delivery based on goals and prioritization to include systems management.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, business administration, computer science, information technology, relative field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Workday Pro Certification preferred

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Legal/Law, Human Resources, Business Systems, Applications Management, and/or related field.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience implementing, supporting, and managing HR systems with preferred experience in the following modules: Employee Data Management, Recruitment, Onboarding, Performance Management, Benefits, Payroll, Time and Attendance, Learning and Development, Talent, Analytics, Employee Self Service

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience implementing, supporting and managing legal systems with preferred experience in the following modules/systems: E-Billing Management, Matter Management, Performance Analytics, Integration, Compliance, Evictions, Litigation Hold

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with integrations between systems and partners

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience providing support to help analyze data and design and build reports as needed

  • Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience with direct reports

  • Advanced experience and knowledge in technology business process development

  • Experience and knowledge with complex HRIS migration and system software projects, system maintenance, tools, and support

  • Experience assists in the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations over internal control procedures and information technology related systems, policies, and procedures

  • Advanced knowledge in project management methodologies to include UML, Agile, and Waterfall

  • Advanced/In-depth understanding of HR processes and regulations

  • Advanced/In-depth understanding of Legal processes and regulations

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in all Workday HCM modules

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in all Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker modules

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Litigation Hold practices and software

  • Advanced understanding in data management and programming languages like SQL

  • Advanced project management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, planning, analysis, and organization skills

  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving /solutioning skills

  • May occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.

  • May occasionally be required to travel.
