Amentum Access Control Officer in Las Vegas, Nevada

Performs all-encompassing Access Control Officer (ACO) duties, which involves effectively recognizing and reacting to diverse situations, including physical and mental duress.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Verifies current access authorization of all personnel entering classified areas of designated company or customer facilities.

  • Monitors activities of individuals entering company facilities.

  • Maintains a computer based chronological log of all activities and/or incidents, which occur during the assigned shift.

  • Makes physical checks of classified areas, security containers including vaults, safes, approved file cabinets and all external doors.

  • Monitor and efficiently use card access computer system, multi-zoned alarm system, emergency fire alarm panel, closed circuit security monitors and office computer system.

  • Provides after-hours protection of incoming classified material.

  • Conducts security inspections of personnel entering and exiting company facilities.

  • Handles the receiving/transferring of telephone calls within the assigned facility.

  • Performs other duties related to physical security as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years professional armed security experience, gained through any one or a combination of the following: military police, civilian police, commercial armed access control/facilities protection.

  • Possess experience and ability to; deal professionally with situations involving mental and physical duress; effectively analyze and react to diverse situations; comprehend both written and verbal instruction and take appropriate actions.

  • Incumbent must possess knowledge of the specified weapon and qualify annually with the designated weapon.

  • Incumbent must provide the designated weapon and holster.

  • Must qualify for and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

  • Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

The position requires periodic walking, running, bending, stooping, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds. If approached by a physical threat, the individual must be able to utilize appropriate self-defense and/or apprehension techniques to ensure the safety of self, others and property. Must be able to work any of the scheduled shifts, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Most work is performed in an office setting. However, the patrol route includes contact with mechanical and electronic equipment and may require patrolling exterior property during inclement weather.
