Austin Bridge & Road Austin Bridge & Road is seeking a Night Shift Superintendent for a large-scale project in Mesquite, TX . This position involves providing daily supervision and coordination of civil and structural operations, including pavement markings, concrete barriers, MSE walls, bridge girders, and substructure/superstructure preparation or concrete placements, with a primary focus on achieving safety, quality, production, and schedule goals. Success in this role requires critical thinking, effective decision-making, strong communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
Ensure jobsite safety by complying with company policies, OSHA standards, and E.E.O. regulations, including conducting regular safety meetings.
Guarantee high-quality workmanship through inspections of field construction work in progress and adherence to approved plans and specifications.
Manage project estimating, start-up, and close-out activities, including punch lists.
Oversee crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, including allocation of resources to foremen and coordination of a large onsite equipment fleet.
Direct salary staff and develop subordinates, such as Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers.
Read and interpret owner’s drawings and specifications to ensure all staff and subcontractors meet job requirements.
Develop and maintain project CPM schedules and “look-ahead” schedules while analyzing job cost reports to meet budget and schedule goals.
Supervise self-performed labor, material, and equipment cost management to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses.
Act as a liaison between owners, architects, and suppliers to maintain effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor all aspects of cost and production, adjusting manpower or methods as needed.
Coordinate and supervise the Field Office Manager to ensure accurate records and reporting.
Perform inspections, allocate resources, and monitor the progress of equipment and materials.
Conduct additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in large heavy civil projects, including TxDOT or highway construction.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is preferred.
Experience with demolition, earthwork, concrete paving, and setting temporary concrete barriers is a plus.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.
Strong commitment to jobsite safety with a proven record of demonstrating safe work practices.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment and consistently meet deadlines.
Requirements:
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme temperatures.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including:
Swing shift (12:00 PM to 12:00 AM)
Night shift (6:00 PM to 5:00 AM)
Availability for on-call work as required.
