LAREDO - CITY OF Recreation Specalist (B253125-2) LAREDO, Texas

: Plans and monitors recreation center activities, such as afternoon summer programs, youth programming, and payment collections. Prepares Recreation center, welcomes community members, and assists them as needed. Takes payments or deposits for facility use. Monitors the recreation center and gymnasium. Ensures facility is properly cleaned and sanitized in a timely manner for the safety of our community.

- Organizes, supervises, and monitors activities conducted in the recreation center. - Monitors activities in the weight room, basketball gym, and boxing gym. - Assists patrons with registration and payment; inputs information into system; provides information about activities and future events. - Maintains cleanliness of recreation center; cleans and sanitizes assigned areas. - Performs related work as required. COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of: - Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software. - Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. - Knowledge of proper use of cleaning equipment. - Knowledge of recreation center programs and events. Skills and Abilities: - Skill in organization and time management. - Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. - Skill in customer service. - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. - Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work. - Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries. - Ability to enforce rules of the gym and recreation center. - Ability to organize youth programming. WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Effort RequirementsPosition will have the following exposures. - Office or similar indoor environment, relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. - Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. - Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. - Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
