Tungsten Parts Wyoming Powder Metallurgist in Laramie, Wyoming

Position: Powder Metallurgist

Department: Engineering and Development

FSLA Status: Exempt

Location: Laramie, WY

Summary Description

The Powder Metallurgist will have a broad understanding of metallurgy and advanced failure analysis techniques, and provide expertise relating to metals and ceramics. Experience in performing root cause failure analysis, microstructure evaluation and providing solutions

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops elemental and blended material specifications and determines QA controls to ensure requirements
  • Training laboratory personnel on powder inspection techniques and provide evaluations
  • Determine tooling size requirements for new products
  • Research, analyze, and propose solutions to customer requirements both internal and external
  • Develop and implement process optimization experiments.
  • Review, revise, create and/or manage SOP's for all thermal processes
  • Provide technical support and analysis internally to operations and quality team
  • Benchmark and improve key metrics in the powder and thermal processes
  • Identify, promote, and provide solutions for continuous improvement throughout the product cycle
  • Identify, research, and recommend cost reductions
  • Mentor employees on compaction, thermal processes and metallurgy
  • Develop methods for ceramic tray manufacturing
  • Develop methods for reworking powder or scrap products

Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Metallurgical engineering
  • 5-10 years of post-academic experience

Travel

  • Minimal travel may be Required

Physical Requirements

  • Sit or stand for long periods of time

Compensation

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience and achievement of objectives

  • Manufacturing: 5 years (Preferred)
