The Opportunity

The Tax Analyst II will be a member of Ally's Tax team. The position will be multi-disciplinary and focus primarily on assisting with federal and state income taxes. Key responsibilities will be assisting in the preparation of taxable income and deferred tax calculations to support the accurate and timely reporting of tax information to support internal forecasting and external regulatory filings. The position will require interaction with other corporate accounting group within the company and will report directly to a Tax Manager.

The Work Itself

  • Assist with the preparation of federal & state income and franchise tax returns and payments
  • Assist in the preparation of tax compliance workbooks
  • Support the preparation of state income and franchise tax accruals and tax account reconciliations
  • Assist in calculating schedules of book/tax differences
  • Support the preparation of federal income tax forecasts
  • Assist with tax calculations related to our business plan forecasts and bank required stress tests
  • Assist with responses to notices regarding state tax issues
  • Identify potential improvements to accuracy, timeliness, or efficiency, and assist implementation of improvements
  • Provide analytical tax and accounting support to internal business partners
  • Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focus

The Skills You Bring

  • 2 years of relevant experience. Some public accounting is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting major preferred) or MBA/MS in Accounting preferred
  • Sound technical tax and/or accounting skills for area of expertise
  • Ability to organize data, conduct tax research, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel. Knowledge of SAP and OneSource Tax Products is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with professionals at all levels
  • Strong organization skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as a team member
  • Regularly exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation
  • A sense of urgency, timeliness and thorough attention to detail

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 55000

Experienced: 75000

Expert: 95000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
