AF Group Internship Vendor Management Specialist in Lansing, Michigan
SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting vendor management efforts through data analysis, basic compliance monitoring, and administrative assistance. The role requires foundational skills in data handling and an understanding of vendor operations. Vendor Analyst is also responsible for vendor performance monitoring, relationship management, supporting higher-level contract, compliance efforts, driving cost-saving strategies, overseeing complex vendor relationships, and acting as a key advisor to leadership on vendor-related matters. JOB DESCRIPTION: * Data Collection and Reporting: Gather and compile vendor performance data, creating basic reports for internal review. Use standard software to maintain and update data repositories. * SLA Monitoring: Track vendor adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and report any discrepancies to the Vendor Analyst II, Senior Vendor Analyst or management team. * Compliance Assistance: Support routine audits by collecting necessary documentation, logging findings, and reporting compliance issues. * Administrative Support: Schedule vendor meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and handle general inquiries from vendors. * Documentation Maintenance: Creates and/or maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records, project documentation, job aids, and business unit resource materials (including contract terms and compliance status). * Performance Reporting: Analyze vendor performance data, generate comprehensive reports, and present findings to management. Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements. * Vendor Relationship Management: Manage day-to-day interactions with vendors, handling escalated issues and coordinating service delivery. Facilitate regular meetings to discuss performance and improvement opportunities. Coordinates with stakeholders to define go-live activities. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS: * Have status as a sophomore, junior or senior as of the end of the spring term (or be enrolled in an applicable graduate program.) * Have status as a rising freshman, at least 18 years-old, who is enrolled in or has completed a vocational insurance-related program, with some college credits. * Hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better as of the most recent grading period. * Be able to work full-time during normal business hours for this summer. * Be available to begin employment between mid-May and mid-June. EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE: Currently enrolled and active in any educational degree program that aligns with our various businesses. EXPERIENCE: With proper education credentials no experience necessary. Previous work experience preferred. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED: * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Excellent working knowledge of computers and company standard software; Internet research experience strongly preferred. * Ability to proofread documents for spelling, grammar and punctuation. * Ability to perform necessary mathematical computations. * Ability to comprehend consequences of various situations and make appropriate individuals aware of sam
