Job Description

This Departmental Analyst position is engaged in various programs and initiatives overseen by the State Tax Commission, in accordance with the General Property Tax Act and the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act. Responsibilities include serving as a contact for the State Tax Commission's Advisory Committees, providing suggestions for the annual determination of certification requirements, preparing policy recommendations for the Commission, assisting with assessor disciplinary matters, and handling communication related to these functions of the State Tax Commission.

This position also establishes and maintains the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) roll. Furthermore, it involves interpreting current and prospective laws, policies, and procedures as they relate to the General Property Tax Act, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act and other statutes.

This position also offers backup for research and analysis, as well as responding to correspondence related to the maintenance of the 211.154 petition process, state assessed property, and state average tax rate programs.

Certification as Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO), Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO), or Michigan Master Assessing Officer (MMAO) is desired.

Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Analyst 9 - P11 - Military Experience

This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
