Description We are welcoming a Controller to our team in the Manufacturing industry, located in Lansing, Michigan. As the Controller, you will be leading SEC reporting and technical accounting, ensuring compliance and controls, managing the consolidation and monthly close process, and overseeing daily management and team development.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders for SEC filings, including Forms 8-K, 10-Q, and 10-K.
• Oversee the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and other data for press releases.
• Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and provide advice on technical accounting matters.
• Develop and maintain global accounting policies, ensuring their consistent application.
• Manage the SOX PMO function, ensuring ongoing compliance and providing recommendations for control deficiencies.
• Develop systems and processes for consolidation to enable efficient monthly closes.
• Review business unit balance sheets, key financial metrics, and ensure compliance with global finance policy.
• Serve as the main point of contact for business unit finance teams regarding accounting and reporting topics.
• Oversee worldwide accounting closes on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Develop and train accounting staff on policies and procedures, recognizing skill gaps and providing training opportunities.
• Identify potential successors for key roles and oversee their development. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
• Proficient in 3M
• Knowledge of Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions
• Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
• Proven experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Familiarity with Auditing processes
• Ability to manage Budget Processes
• Experience in preparing Form 10-Q and Form 10-K
• Knowledge of SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
• Expertise in Budgeting - Forecasting
• Proficiency in handling Month End Close processes
