Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
Provide athletic training services to high school students and assists with athletic training programs in high schools, as outlined in the contract. Provides rehab services to patients. Provide prescribed physical therapy treatment to patients under the supervision of a physical therapist.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Perform treatment according to the established plan, utilizing all available modalities, equipment and techniques within the scope of athletic training.
- Document patient treatment in the medical record according to established criteria.
- Coordinates, develops, and maintains high school training rooms in respective contract schools.
- Coordinates coverage of high school sports events as outlined in each school contract and agreed upon with Athletic Director.
- Instructs patients, family and/or caregiver in proper techniques to assist patient in achieving maximal level of independence.
- Leads or directs the activities of Rehab aides, ATC students and volunteers, ensuring that department policies and procedures are upheld and that quality patient care is provided.
- Participates in inservices, staff meetings, team meetings, continuing education courses, and other meetings as needed.
- Provides fill-in coverage for contract athletic trainers in their absence.
During "off season/summer break" provides youth community program development or provides clinical patient care as deemed necessary by Manager/Supervisor.
Job Requirements
General Requirements
Certification in Athletic Training from the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Work Experience
Athletic training experience in a school setting preferred.
Education
Bachelor of Science in athletic training or physical education/health from a program accredited by the Secretary of the Department of Education and/or Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation recognized agency.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
