Overview

Accounts Payable Specialist ObjectiveTo facilitate the efficient flow of accounting functions related to processing accounts payable invoices, cash advances and other payable related functions.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Specialist ResponsibilitiesMaintain the Great Plains accounts payable system including vendor files, 1099 information, payment terms, recurring batches, and posting of invoices. Assist Cost Accountant with account maintenance. Process bills, advances, and other check requests on an as-needed basis. This involves the proper usage of general ledger accounts, matching invoices to purchase orders, correct authorization of disbursements, and payment on a timely basis to take advantage of available discounts. Post appropriate allocation codes for proper expense charges to company and product line. Establish accurate expense reserves on unpaid purchase requisitions each month for entry into the automated budget and finance system. Balance processed claim draft reports daily and reimburse inter-company transactions. Establish and maintain files of accounts payable documents on an ongoing basis. Process CSAC cashiering, monthly imports, commission statements, and invoicing when needed. Provide assistance on special projects and analysis reports. Post journal entries on a daily basis. Create a check file from Great Plains for each of the Insurance Companies on a daily basis. Use the Great Plains Accounts Payable (A/P) system and filing system to answer inquiries regarding proper payments, billings, and allocations from both internal and external sources.

Qualifications

Accounts Payable Specialist Qualifications RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent required. PreferredAssociate's degree preferred. Basic accounting experience preferred. Basic Microsoft Excel, Access and Word skills preferred. Note: This is a Part-time position working 24 hours per week - Three days a week. Tuesday and Fridays required, but the third day can be flexible, although Wednesday or Thursday is preferred. This could become more flexible sometime next year. Location is flexible. Can work from home or come into the office.
