Full-time 1st shift. 7:00a - 3:30p. Every other holiday.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists with directing staff in accomplishing housekeeping services of the hospital interior as well as assigning projects, in patient, clinical, and public areas. Also responsible for the administrative duties of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Responsible for the efficient and effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and supplies in carrying out housekeeping operations and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in assigned areas.

  • Responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Director of Guest Services.

  • Conducts interviews with candidates during department interview days.

  • Assists department crew leaders with rounding responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, assigns, and monitors projects, developing and maintaining a system of communication among Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health (LGH) staff in assigned areas.

  • Assists with training new and existing personnel through direct in-service and follow-up, providing direction, feedback, and review of their activities.

  • Makes daily schedule adjustments to meet patient needs in assigned areas.

  • Plans and submits a monthly planning calendar to the manager indicating special projects, setups, carpet care, and floor refinishing in assigned areas, and follow-up to ensure completion.

  • Directs and utilizes Crew Leaders and staff to complete monthly cycle cleaning schedule (i.e. walls, cubicle curtains and drapes, windows, interior lights, blinds, and upholstery, refilling deodorizers and sanitary napkin holder dispensers, as set by Manager.

  • Coordinates the disposal, transfer, and/or storage of hospital furniture, equipment, and supplies as necessary and possesses a working knowledge of MSDS, standard precautions, fire and safety, and compactor/recycling operations.

  • Responsible for developing a rapport with LGH staff in assigned areas and mediating disputes between Environmental Services and other LGH staff in these areas.

  • Conducts counseling meetings with personnel for minor policy violations.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Assists Manager with interviewing job applicants and makes recommendations to Manager.

  • Assists Manager with investigating and disciplining personnel for major policy violations.

  • Utilizes Crew Leaders to provide input in completing performance evaluations for personnel in assigned areas.

  • Maintains cleanliness of carts, equipment, janitor’s closets, and the Environmental Services storeroom.

  • Attends in-services and programs as assigned by the Manager.

  • Covers other areas and performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Technical school background

  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license

  • Four (4) years experience in institutional, commercial, or hospitality setting
