Fairfield County Eligibility Referral Specialist 2 - Child Care in Lancaster, Ohio

Determines applicant's initial eligibility for Publicly Funded Child Care. Approves or denies applicant's program eligibility based upon established State and Agency regulations and procedures. Explains applicant's rights and responsibilities; ensures recipient has signed and understands required documents; explains respective Public Assistance programs. Determines ongoing/continued eligibility for Public Assistance programs (e.g., TANF/OWF, Medicaid, SNAP/Food Assistance, Child Care, etc.). Initiates correspondence by issuing forms and requesting verifications. Responsible for paperwork processing and case documentation. Duties 50% Determines applicant's initial eligibility for Public Assistance programs (with the focus of Social Services; Child Care, PRC and Transportation) Approves or denies applicant's program eligibility based upon established State and Agency regulations and procedures. Explains applicant's rights and responsibilities; ensures recipient has signed and understands required documents; explains respective Public Assistance programs. 30% Determines ongoing/continued eligibility for Public Assistance programs (e.g., TANF/OWF, Medicaid, SNAP/Food Assistance, Child Care, etc.). Initiates correspondence by issuing forms and requesting verifications. Responsible for paperwork processing and case documentation. 15% Attend social services related training, conferences, and other related programs. Attend monthly webinars for Child Care and Office of Family and Children. Various other duties as assigned. 5% Makes appropriate referrals when additional assistance is needed for community and state agencies for further assistance. And performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications One year of experience as an Eligibility/Referral Specialist 1. Or two years of experience as a Unit Support Worker 2. Or completion of undergraduate major core coursework in behavioral science, social science, or education; one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques; and one course or six months of experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing. Or completion of two years of technical education in behavioral science or social science; one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques; and one course or six months of experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing. Or two courses or one year of experience in behavioral science, social science, or customer service techniques; one course or six months experience in business mathematics; one course or six months experience in business English; one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques; and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing.
