Fairfield County Driver's License Examiner in Lancaster, Ohio

Under general supervision, the Deputy Clerk - License Examiner determines legality to issue licenses, administers and scores written, oral, interpreter, video, vision and special BMV ordered examinations for all types of licenses and to conduct driving skills and/or maneuverability examinations for assigned categories of licenses. Schedule*: Monday: Closed Tuesday: 8:00-5:00 (with hour lunch) Wednesday: 8:00-5:00 (with hour lunch) Thursday: 8:00-5:00 (with hour lunch) Friday: 8:00-5:00 (with hour lunch) Saturday: 8:00-noon Sunday: Closed *Schedule can fluctuate between 36-40 hours per week based on need. Duties Conducts vehicle inspections and conducts and scores driving skills and/or maneuverability examinations as assigned to determine pass/failure of applicant. Administers and scores written, oral, interpreter, video, vision, and special BMV ordered examinations for all types of licenses; issues medical papers to applicants who fail vision examinations and test/screens applicants for physical disabilities/medical problems and determines which, if any, restrictions should be place on applicant's license due to medical/disabling condition. Performs all routine operations of one or multi-person examining station as assigned (e.g., prepares, checks and submits all station reports; periodically checks tests routes to ensure corrects tests are administered and maneuverability test sites meet standards, checks testing forms for uniformity of grading, periodically reviews manuals to update/ensure they are current, periodically checks files for accuracy and disposes outdated reports, checks test appointment schedules to ensure fairness and maximum number of assignments have been made, resolves disputes with applicants. Keeps abreast of changes in motor vehicle laws and division policies and procedures; assists in training new clerical and/or driver license examiner personnel, determines when driving skills and maneuverability examinations should be cancelled due to weather conditions, sets up and tears down and maintains maneuverability examination sites, maintains office and facility site. Attends seminars, training, and meetings, as required. Maintains required licensure and certification. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Position may require additional duties of the processing of auto and boat titles and other title work as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Completion of secondary education (high school diploma or GED); and 1-2 years' experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy; successful completion of driver education and safety course and/or defensive driving course, instructor training course, drive license examiner course, or other related driver training course, or ability to obtain within six months of employment. Supplemental Information INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); works in or around crowds; goes up and down ladders; works in the same building as firearms; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; occasionally lifts objects 25 lbs. or less; occasionally carries objects 25 lbs. or less; occasionally pushes objects 25 lbs. or less; occasionally pulls objects 25 lbs. or less.
