Job Purpose:Maintains grounds by evaluating and maintaining plants, supplies, and equipment; monitoring external grounds maintenance contracts; managing staff.Duties: * Accomplishes grounds management human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures. * Achieves grounds management operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change. * Meets grounds management financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. * Improves appearance of grounds by selecting plant and landscape designs and materials; preparing plans and specifications for bidding and implementation; estimating costs of plan implementation. * Controls costs of contracted grounds management work by inspecting contracted work during implementation, and at completion; initiating revisions or corrective actions to deviations from approved plan. * Procures grounds management supplies and equipment by evaluating new plants, equipment, and techniques; maintaining equipment inventories; establishing operations, repair, and installation policies and procedures; maintaining landscaping supplies. * Provides inclement weather safety by obtaining and maintaining snow management policies and equipment; training staff in operating equipment; ensuring adherence to safety guidelines; providing safe parking and walkways for staff and visitors. * Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. * Enhances grounds management and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Skills/Qualifications:Strategic Planning, Staffing, Developing Budgets, Estimating, Equipment Maintenance, Site Development, Process Improvement, Supply Management, Safety Management, Facilities Management Systems, Facilities Coordination
