This position focuses on supporting the delivery of tunnels and underground facilities for heavy civil infrastructure projects. The candidate will have experience in one or more of the following subject matters: structural engineering, geostructrual engineering, geotechnical engineering, excavation support, or trenchless technologies. Responsibilities: Perform geotechnical or structural engineering analyses and calculations for tunnels, shafts, foundations, retaining structures, landslide and slope stability, ground improvement, and seismic evaluations. Evaluate and characterize soil and rock ground conditions for engineering design Preparation of technical reports and other documents Development of construction drawings and specifications for underground infrastructure Development and management of geotechnical exploration programs in soil and rock Specialty inspection of pile load testing, pile installation, jet grouting, and slurry walls Managing tasks and mentoring junior staff Geotechnical design and reporting (engineering, data, and baseline reports) Review contractor submittals; Work on a variety of office and field assignments. Qualifications: MS in Structural, Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering. Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities and supervise junior staff on project tasks. Strong analytical and technical communication skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Professional Engineering registration in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within 1 year. Structural Engineering registration in Illinois is a plus Familiarity with structural or geotechnical analysis software Familiarity with the latest versions of structural design standards, including ACI-318, ASCE-7, and AISC 360 and BIM tools such as Revit is a plus.
