ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Human Resources Director works closely with the Vice President of Human Resources - US and Human Resources (HR) team to create and deliver the HR strategy for the US business. The Regional Human Resources Director will lead a team of HR professionals who provide HR direction and support to leadership and employees (approximately 1000 employees) across multiple sites and states in both union and non-union environments within a geographic region or business unit.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety practices in all work environments.

  • Lead a regional or business unit HR team through coaching, guiding their performance, and development, and supporting their growth.

  • Provide HR guidance and direction, including but not limited to employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, and employee development to regional or business unit leadership.

  • Work with the VP of HR and HR team to develop and execute the HR strategy.

  • Work closely with the HR team and across the business to develop practices that build and support a highly engaged workforce.

  • Lead and participate in special projects that add value to the business by differentiating Holcim as a preferred employer.

  • Participate in Collective Bargaining Agreement preparation and negotiations.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; Master’s degree and HR certifications a plus.

Required Work Experience: Minimum 10 years as a Human Resources Generalist with a minimum five years in a leadership role.

Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficient in Google applications and MS Suite. Working knowledge of SAP and SuccessFactors is a plus.

Travel Requirements: 30%, including overnight travel

  • Ability and willingness to operate both strategically and tactically, and to translate strategies into pragmatic plans that drive positive business results.

  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources and compliance practices, and how to most effectively apply them.

  • An inspired and passionate leader who will position Human Resources as a strategic enabler of results.

  • Ability to influence and consult effectively with leaders at every level.

  • Strong bias for action with a sense of urgency, and a driver for continuous improvement.

  • Experience working in a Union environment with thorough knowledge of labor law.

  • Proven ability to evaluate issues and situations, weigh pros and cons and recommend the best decision applying and explaining the rationale – must be able to work with and through uncertainty to achieve outcomes.

  • Strong ability to develop effective working relationships among a wide variety of stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a challenging environment with multiple competing deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
