Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Project Engineer I/II/III/Senior - Protection in Lakewood, Colorado

As a Project Engineer - Protection in Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

Required Qualifications:

o Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline

o Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities

o Willing to travel as needed

o Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

o Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

o Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

o Background check results satisfactory to SEL

o Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications:

o Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and/or generation systems

o Experience being a part of and/or leading a project team

Protection Specialization:

o Experience creating protective relay settings for transmission & distribution utilities, substations, generation facilities, and industrial clients

o Experience including (but not limited to) line, bus, transformer, autotransformer, and feeder relay settings

o Experience reviewing design packages including one-lines, three-lines, AC schematics, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, bill of material, SCADA points lists

o Demonstrated ownership of each stage of the settings creation process, calculations, and delivery of high-quality work

o Deep level of understanding of zones of protection, instrument transformers, and protective relaying schemes

Career Levels:

Project Engineer I

o 1+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in protective relay setting

Project Engineer II

o 4+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in protective relay setting

Project Engineer III

o 8+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in protective relay settings

Senior Project Engineer

o 12+ years of experience with electrical power systems with a focus in protective relay settings

    Pay Range Data

    Project Engineer I $97,500.00 - $117,000.00.

    Project Engineer II $112,000.00 - $134,000.00.

    Project Engineer III $128,000.00 - $154,000.00.

    Senior Project Engineer $148,000.00 - $177,600.00.

    Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
