Description of Job

TheOffice of Communicationsfor the Colorado Department of Revenue creates and executes broad-based public information, education and media campaigns that further the goals and objectives of the Department and effectively communicates the vision, mission and messages to all stakeholders, both internal and external.

This positionis being adapted to provide generalized support to the diverseDORCommunications team, including media relations, drafting content for divisions, and supporting agency-wide initiatives. The role will also provide the DOR Communications Director with administrative support, including drafting talking points, slide decks, agendas, and other materials to ensure the success of the team.

Duties:

  • Work with different divisions to respond to media inquiries, draft content for web pages, create external and internal emails, and respond to leadership requests.

  • Intake media inquiries, gather information, draft response, circulate with leadership and receive approval to send.

  • Draft content for webpages and external/internal emails.

  • Respond to leadership requests.

  • Performs general organizational management, updates departmental web and intranet pages.

  • Assists with internal and external communication to departments and outside stakeholders.

  • Creates letters, presentations, and other communications as needed to support communications team initiatives.

Must meet one of the following or any combination of experience/education to meet the minimum (MQ) qualifications:

OPTION 1:

  • 5 years of experience in administration, providing public information through various channels.

    OPTION 2:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment

  • 1 year of professional experience in administration, providing public information through various channels

    OPTION 3:

  • Additional education can substitute for experience equal to 5 years

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Excellent written communication and technology skills with the ability to present information clearly, concisely, and creatively

  • Experience in communicating to a variety of audiences across various channels, including email, print, video, Web, etc.

  • Ability to use sound judgment in the release of information and effectively communicate highly sensitive information and handle situations with tact and diplomacy

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships

  • Strong organizational skills to effectively assist in the management of multiple projects from inception to completion, adhering to deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

  • Must be energetic, self-directed, highly creative team player with a strong attention to detail

  • Customer Service and Administration Experience

    Conditions of Employment with the CDOR :

    Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.

    As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations .
