Location Description Post Consumer Brands corporate headquarters in Lakeville, Minn. is about 20 miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Lakeville has all the benefits of smaller town living with access to everything a large metropolitan area has to offer. Responsibilities Overview The Sr. Transportation Planner is responsible for the day-to-day management of freight and carrier execution throughout the supply chain while demonstrating model process proficiency. This position ensures that transportation is planned to balance service and cost, while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with third-party carriers, Post Consumer Brands’ (PCB) customer teams and supply chain partners. This position leverages data to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and success of PCB transportation operations. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Customer Focus Achieve and maintain alignment in the value chain between carriers, PCB and the Customer with specific focus on Top Tier customers, as assigned. Effectively manage delivery execution to meet customer delivery expectations. Identify areas of opportunity to drive continuous improvement. Develop specific action plans to enhance operating efficiency, quality, and performance. Evaluate data to bring forward actionable recommendations for optimization and cost reduction. Technical / Functional Expertise Transportation Planning Responsible for high visibility customers, large co-manufacturers and/or complex PCB facilities. Run transportation routing and scheduling plan daily, including Customer deliveries, plant transfers, inbound materials, and other freight movements for the company. Use the Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage capacity across carriers, lanes, PCB facilities, and customers to maintain service and cost metrics. Provide feedback regarding system performance and offer solutions to improve configuration, procedures, or operating standards. Local Facility Transportation Liaison Support assigned facilities as a liaison between sites and freight vendors. Manage trailer pools and equipment capacity to support production variances. Lead, facilitate, and participate on various project teams. Results Create transportation plans that control costs, meet customer service requirements and manages transportation carrier capacity. Report on key performance metrics, including but not limited to: Freight Cost, On-Time Delivery to Request Date, On-Time Delivery to 1st Appointment, On Time Pick Up and Primary Tender Acceptance Evaluate key performance indicators, manage vendor actions to improve and communicate progress to PCB leadership. Identify and quantify opportunities to reduce total delivered costs. Act Develop strong relationships with transportation vendors and internal PCB contacts. Maintain a positive approach in difficult situations and facilitate resolution or change. Provide solutions and/or suggestions to obstacles through data-driven analysis. Proficiently utilize analytical tools to drive change. Proactively establish and implement countermeasures to negative performance trends, industry cycles and network disruptions. Organization and People Development Develop yourself against the competency profiles for successful individual contributors at PCB. Represent the PCB transportation function as a professional and viable resource for the company to customers, both internally and externally. Support an inclusive and positive team environment. Other Perform other projects, tasks and services as required or assigned. Qualifications Education 4-year college degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Economics, or applicable field of study. Experience 2+ years of experience in supply chain management including operational, supply chain processes and information technology. Financial analysis capabilities Requirements Skills: Broad knowledge of logistics processes and planning systems. Cost control, cost-benefit analysis, and the implementation of productivity improvements. Effective communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated good business judgment and a good understanding of economic principles affecting decisions related to transportation. Capacity to use technology (TMS, ERP, Tableau, etc.) as a decision support tool. Skilled in prioritizing workloads and stress management. Management Skills: Collaboration, decision-making, problem-solving, results orientation, conflict management, ability to establish clear objectives for self and others; ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives; identify deviations from plan and facilitate resolution. Serve as a peer leader within the team. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Capacity to focus on Transportation strategies that provide the lowest landed costs, while meeting our internal and external customer requirements.
