Post Consumer Brands is looking for a Data Governance Intern for a 12-week summer 2024 immersive & transformative internship experience. JOB FUNCTION The Data Governance Team at Post Consumer Brands’ goal is to establish policies, processes, and standards that ensure data is accurate, secure, available, and usable throughout its life cycle. We’re responsible for understanding our data model and ensuring that the those who steward and consume the data live by the procedures and rules that we have worked through together. The Data Governance team works to ensure data quality and compliance by collaborating with data owners, data stewards, and data engineers. As an intern, you will provide reporting and analytical support to the broader organization. You will help to document data models, validate established policy, explore data sources and gain insight from those data sources. In addition, you will be working alongside an MDM implementation team to help build out models and validation rules within the new application. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES / DUTIES The Data Governance Intern may assist in a number of project and/or operations support roles. Assignments may include work such as: Assist the data governance team in developing and implementing data quality standards, policies, and procedures. Support data governance initiatives such as data cataloging, data lineage, and data stewardship. Utilize tools such as Data.World, Tableau, DataGaps, and Snowflake to evaluate data ecosystem and implement quality checks. Identify, document, and report data quality issues and recommend solutions. Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, and data engineers to ensure data quality and compliance. Use SQL to explore data sources in data warehouse. Analyze data models to evaluate usefulness and relevance of current attributions Work alongside Data Governance and Development teams to help establish a new MDM application. Specific project and operational roles will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests. Qualifications Candidates must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree or at an institution with an accredited program in in Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Administration with a graduation date in 2026 Second major or minor in MIS or interest/experience in any programming language preferred Proven leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and in teams Strong written and oral communication skills The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of opportunity and take action A high level of competence in computer applications and the ability to use technology as a decision-support tool Ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives, identify deviations from the plan, and facilitate resolution Ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization Previous internship or work experience (strongly preferred) Interest in the consumer packaged goods / manufacturing industry with the desire to start a career with Post Consumer Brands after graduation (strongly preferred) We are unable to proceed with candidates who require visa sponsorship now or in the future Additional Program Information & Perks Offering competitive compensation Access to a dynamic internship event program including development, networking, & social activities Eligible for subsidized housing & $2,500 relocation stipend Cereal galore – enjoy a variety of cereal and oatmeal options in our break room, for free.
