Cardinal Health Sr. Director of Operations in Lakeland, Florida

The Sr. Director of Operations reports to Vice President of Operations and is responsible for motivating, developing and leading a team of four direct reports and 190 indirect employees.

The warehouse, located in Lakeland, Florida is 200,000 square feet and picks, packs and ships approximately $12 billion in pharmaceutical products each month. The role is essential to maintaining clear and frequent communications with all levels within the organization as well as with customers.

The Sr. Director provides strategic direction and leadership, ensuring execution of the distribution center's employee engagement and retention strategies and internal and external customer satisfaction. The Sr. Director ensures all Cardinal Health operational, financial and safety procedures are followed, enabling relevant key financial performance indicators are met and operational goals are achieved. In addition, this leader will lead the distribution center's compliance with all appropriate state and federal agencies.

Job Summary

The Sr. Director of Operations oversees and ensures the successful distribution of National and Cardinal Health branded products to customers from a single distribution site and is held responsible for meeting site specific goals and objectives. This leader oversees and directs materials and logistics problem resolution for a complex, large sized site to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations. This job may direct cost reduction and process improvement projects for their site to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness. This role manages cross functional teams through good practices, employee appraisal systems, communication systems, and performance management techniques to successfully meet and exceed our operational, customer, employee and organizational long term commitments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to managers, experienced professional staff and operational associates

  • Promote a productive work environment with high employee engagement levels

  • Consults with site managers to coordinate capacity and team member schedules with their current and anticipated demand for goods and materials.

  • Partner with Environmental Health and Safety team to ensure high standards are in place for a safe working environment for all employees

  • Create and execute strategies to control operating costs

  • Evaluates, develops and implements key performance indicators, site specific policies and procedures to optimize resources and achieve volume, timeliness, reliability, and safety standards along with organizational goals

  • Monitor and ensure all regulatory procedures are properly administered and within appropriate tolerances

  • Assist in the development of functional strategies and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Interact with internal and external leaders, including senior management

  • Provides support and input to Senior Leadership in the establishment of performance objectives and strategies to ensure the achievement of company forecasts while maintaining a high level efficiency and quality in sites.

  • Acts as a strategic partner for customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of services.

  • Evaluates, selects, and manages relationships with related suppliers to minimize costs and ensure satisfactory standards of service.

  • Persuade others into agreement with sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships across the organization

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field

  • 7 -10 years of experience in a distribution environment preferred

  • 5 years of operations management experience within a large scale operation preferred

  • Experience and passion for developing and motivating teams and driving positive culture while holding team accountable for goals

  • Strong financial acumen, analytical, organizational and communication skills

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety laws and best practices

  • Experience working with Lean Six Sigma methodologies

  • Experience in customer facing role

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization or customers, up to c-suite

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment; works well under pressure and results oriented

Anticipated salary range: $134,600 - $214,200
