Summary This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, position description D1063000, within the AASF-1 of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The purpose of this position is to act as the Lead Aircraft Mechanic with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, you will: Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Manage, monitor or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. port exercises Ensure Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Launch, recovers, parks, and services aircraft. Diagnose and solve malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex, state of the art computerized and/or non-computerized Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). Plan, develop, and conduct proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Work with, coordinate and oversee the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Serve as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft. Work closely with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control personnel to report and maintain current aircraft status. Requirements Conditions of Employment Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Specialized Experience: Must have at least 24 months experience or training in the following: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing various major and minor mechanical and pnuedraulic systems on an aircraft Coordinating the work of other mechanics Scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow Ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military, and other personnel Knowledge of disassembly and re-assembly of the following: Crashed dummy engines Transmissions Gearboxes Hydraulic components Fuel controls Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement Additional Information Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: E4 and Max: E8 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.
