FirstService Residential Security Officer in Lake Tahoe, California

Job Overview:

Under moderate direction, the Security Officer will patrol Association premises to determine if any potential hazards or security violations exist. Investigate and report suspicious circumstances or events.

Compensation: $20-22/hr

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Your Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Patrol regular beats as specified by Supervisor or Operations Manager
  • Review and respond to reports and questions from property owners, tenants and visitors regarding safety and security incidents and issues.
  • Assist local law enforcement and /or fire departments as required, in the detection and reporting of crime and safety hazards, or public nuisances.
  • Secure and lock all facilities after hours.
  • Perform regular trash patrols in the Pavilion Office and Townhouse Subdivision parking lots, including cleaning up leftover messes and securing dumpsters
  • Patrol recreational facilities on a regular basis throughout the day, stopping and checking for valid passes. Take proper eviction action if invalid passes are being used or if guests are becoming a nuisance.
  • Assist Pool Attendant with Indoor and/or Outdoor Pool closing duties
  • Assure the tranquility of the neighbors by enforcing TKPOA’s CC&Rs and Operating Rules.
  • Patrol empty houses and rental properties on a regular basis, especially at night, to assure there is no damage, and that the neighbors are not being annoyed. Take appropriate action to stop unnecessary noise.
  • Patrol boat docks to assure that all boats have current stickers. Ticket or issue violation notices to offenders. Follow up to assure that proper action has been taken by offender. Use eviction measures as required by the CC&Rs.
  • Patrol Association and Townhouse parking lots to assure that all vehicles are in compliance with Townhouse rules. Ticket or issue violation notices to offender. Follow up to assure that proper action has been taken by offender.
  • Patrol Association properties to assure there is no violation of any CC&Rs codes.
  • Enter violations issued into database spreadsheet
  • Entering complete Incident Reports, Logs, and updates into the Security Activity Log (SAL) with any additional back up (photos, member statements, etc.)
  • Assist ACC in issuing violation notices to owners for violations of the Architectural Control Rules Brochure.
  • Monitor new construction and remodeling sites for presence of unauthorized persons, or evidence of vandalism.
  • Crosstrain at the Front Desk on essential functions such as creating Member ID Cards and day use passes, issuing parking hangtags, stickers, and annual boat stickers, and answering general questions.
  • Maintain organization of forms, tickets, handouts, etc. that are keep in Security vehicles
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of Security vehicles
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Patrol and inspect Water Company and Water Quality facilities.
  • Utilize and become familiar with Association Security Camera system
  • On a regular basis, patrol areas on foot that can’t be seen from a vehicle including the Townhome Subdivisions and homes where owners have asked for additional security check ins while away.
  • Regularly inspect the Corporation Yard for signs of vandalism to the Association assets.
  • Become familiar with Townhouse Subdivision fire and low temperature alarms
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of public relation principles.
  • Ability to consistently enforce safety laws, local ordinances and Association regulations.
  • Ability to investigate suspicious circumstances or violations.
  • Ability to calmly and tactfully explain rules and ordinances to obtain compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and other Association management and Staff, homeowners, renters, guests and the general public.
  • Ability to complete and understand safety reports and time logs.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must possess a valid American Red Cross CPR..
  • Must possess a valid Class C or Class 3 driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and the ability to pass a driving history and reference background investigation.
  • California Guard Card must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

Education & Experience:

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with considerable experience in public safety and public contact. Must have had work experience with one or more of the following: Law Enforcement, public safety department, fire department, Armed Forces, security or public and/or private security agency.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and to access and patrol perimeter by foot.
  • Ability to operate a 2-way radio and base station.
  • Ability to detain persons suspected of criminal violations until law enforcement officials intervene.
  • Ability to work variable shifts and to work outdoors under variable weather conditions.
