TE Connectivity’s Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment, and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Defining complex supplier strategy and classification (grow/fix/exit/develop) for the assigned suppliers and commodities (mostly with strategic impact or size) – under strong cooperation with Supplier Quality and Supply Chain Management

  • Screening the market to identify suppliers and demands for the future, to identify development partners and negotiate contracts with them

  • Leading quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers, including review of financial, quality and delivery performance targets

  • Driving cost reductions through annual negotiations with strategic suppliers to meet annual budget objective

  • Developing saving plans for the assigned suppliers and commodities (mostly with strategic impact or size) to reach the saving target

  • Ensuring compliance with the global sourcing process and policies for all activities under responsibility

  • Aligning required capacities with suppliers including end of life strategy

  • Solving contractual issues with suppliers

  • Working on process improvements

  • Creating and updating required documents

  • Driving analyses and plausibilisation of regular reports as well as pushing for data accuracy / clean-up

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Industrial Engineering or equivalent

  • Metal industry, steel or copper knowledge, is mandatory

  • Knowledge of regional and global supplier base for metals commodity raw material

  • 5 years of experience in procurement

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel and PowerPoint)+ Fluent English

  • Automotive background is a plus

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask

  • Ability to create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans

  • Proven track record of negotiation skills
