Responsibilities This Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Natchez Trace Parkway is December 29th to February 23nd, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. This position is located at the Natchez Trace Parkway in the Kosciusko District, Kosciusko, Mississippi. The primary function of Maintenance Worker is to collect and dispose of trash from roadsides, remove limbs and other obstructions from roadsides, leg stretcher trails and grounds, and clean restrooms and other facilities along the Parkway. Maintenance Workers also operate small equipment such as leaf blowers, string trimmers, Zero-turn mowers, and chainsaws. The Maintenance Worker uses common hand tools to perform a variety of basic repairs and maintenance on all Parkway facilities and assist higher-graded employees on more complex tasks. Maintenance Workers most often work independently and possess all necessary authority and autonomy to execute normal duties. Work is preformed both indoors and outdoors, often during adverse weather conditions. Emergency callouts can occur 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items, frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, and working in cramped positions and may involve some climbing. The employee also completes daily work reports and other assigned administrative duties. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists. Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
