Kodiak Area Native Association Wellness and Prevention Supervisor in Kodiak, Alaska

Responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Health (BH) Wellness and Prevention programs, including: supervision of Wellness and Prevention staff, ensuring successful implementation of programmatic initiatives and services, compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and grant requirements. In collaboration with the Wellness Programs Director, is responsible for building and developing a comprehensive community outreach, education, and engagement program focused on promoting mental health and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Wellness Programs Director, job incumbent may be assigned from the following representative duties:

  • Provide leadership and direct support to Wellness and Prevention Specialists; create a consistent supervision (individual and/or group) schedule for the program. Provides both task-oriented and reflective/consultative supervision; coordinate additional consultation with Wellness Programs Director where necessary.
  • Effectively communicate job and service expectations to Wellness and Prevention Specialists and/or other assigned staff; enforce service expectations through employee orientation, monitoring, appraisals, training plans, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
  • Work closely with the team to design and implement Wellness and Prevention initiatives and services that respond directly to identified needs of the Kodiak region, with equal focus on rural village communities. Develop ideas and implement new principles for the program. Assist in the identification of any barriers to services and work collaboratively to resolve.
  • Integrate appropriate cultural activities/approaches into practice; establish cultural approaches as a norm within the Wellness and Prevention program; demonstrate cultural humility.
  • Approve training, travel, and purchase requests; become familiar with various funding streams (such as grants) that support the department.
  • Develop evaluation and monitoring tools to collect, analyze, organize and report on program performance data. Submit thorough grant and department program reports promptly to meet applicable deadlines.
  • Successfully implement documentation standards related to any Wellness and Prevention events, for both client and non-client contacts; work closely with Wellness Programs Director and other key staff to inform policy and procedure supporting these standards. Submit accurate and complete documentation within established timeframes and ensure the same of applicable staff.
  • Identify opportunities to capture billable services; work with relevant BH staff to integrate Wellness and Prevention clinical documentation into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) where appropriate.
  • Design and implement Key Performance Indicators and other performance measures to cultivate a high-performance team.
  • Balance supervisory role with direct service/outreach activities. Direct services may include but are not limited to: facilitation of gatherings, participating in outreach, offering community presentations and activities, c ordinating special events, etc.
  • Consult with the relevant BH staff regarding clinical processes, programming, and expectations where appropriate.
  • Upon request, travels to village communities to provide outreach, needs assessment, and develop relationships with Tribal leadership and community members.
  • Ensure programs comply with Federal and State regulation where applicable; work closely with relevant KANA staff to align program with any applicable accreditation requirements.
  • Directly inform grant proposal and management process as appropriate in collaboration with relevant staff; maintain compliance with all assigned reporting and other grant-related obligations.
  • Provide data and reports at the request of the Wellness Programs Director; may also be requested to provide Wellness and Prevention presentations to key partners, KANA Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, Tribal Leadership, and other community leaders as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
