Our Human Resources leader provides coaching, leadership and support to managers and employees regarding Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, questions and concerns and acts as a key member of the leadership team. Leads and manages all employment practices which include recruitment, orientation, professional development of employees, promotions and terminations. Administers various human resource policies for site including the administration of attendance and disciplinary policies ensuring consistency within location. Acts as an employee advocate and mediator with employee relations concerns and handles human resources legal issues as required. Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducts investigations; maintains records; represents the organization at hearings.

Utilizes excellent communication and interpersonal skills; successfully establishes and maintains professional relationships and works effectively with all levels of management and employees.

May supervise human resource associates, coordinators, and/or clerical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and /or works with a team of human resources associates, recruiters, coordinators and or clerical staff.

  • Ensures the effective administration of the organization’s human resources programs.

  • Serves as a member of the leadership team and attends management team meetings as necessary to provide information regarding specific human resources issues.

  • Provides technical assistance to employees, supervisors and managers regarding employee relations issues and personnel policies, practices, and regulations; provides or arranges for training sessions as appropriate.

  • Monitors organization policies and practices for compliance with various legal requirements (e.g. FLSA, EEO, FMLA, ADA, etc.). Provides related counseling, technical assistance, and training to employees and supervisors.

  • Collaborates with system HR representatives to recommend/develop and implement human resources policies and guidelines that are consistent with organizational goals as well as applicable legal and professional guidelines.

  • In association with the HR Service Center, coordinates the proper management of personnel records, including the proper maintenance, storage, transfer, and review of personnel records and employee information.

  • In association with Employment Services, coordinates employee recruitment, selection, employment and retention processes in order to provide adequate staffing of agency/facility operations; develops and implements procedural guidelines for related internal processes.

  • Works with Learning & Leadership Development to provide (or coordinates through external sources) specific training courses for organization employees/managers on various human resources issues.

  • In association with Covenant Health’s Benefits Department, oversees the effective administration and communication of all employee benefit programs including health insurance, flexible benefits programs, employee assistance programs, workers compensation and organization-specific programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in human resource management or a closely related field

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional-level Human Resource work in a supervisory capacity including at least three (3) years direct experience in the area of employee relations.

*Note:Candidates who do not meet the education and experience requirements listed above may qualify with an equivalent combination (i.e. 8 years) of college coursework and full-time work experience in a professional HR capacity including at least three (3) years direct experience in the area of employee relations.

Licensure Requirement:

Preferred Professional HR Certification (e.g. PHR, SPHR, etc.)
