Overview of the Role:
Lead Molding Machine Operators are part of the production team. Their success is determined by the positive way in which they communicate, cooperate, interact and contribute towards achieving their work center goals and objectives.
Lead Molding Machine Operators are responsible for setting up tooling and equipment and optimizing equipment uptime, in the Molding Department. They are capable of responding rapidly to situations to meet production plans and service the requirements of our customers.
Lead Molding Machine Operators are responsible for quality, throughput and safety. They participate as team members in solving problems and implementing solutions to increase Woodstream’s manufacturing productivity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular attendance is required to maintain the functions of the job
Assure equipment and component set-up, availability and readiness to meet the production schedule requirements and throughput rates established for the work centers
Maintain uptime on all production equipment to meet throughput rates on a consistent and reliable basis
Diagnose machine problems quickly; perform effective troubleshooting of equipment, tools and process to maintain production of machinery. When appropriate, seek additional technical support, as required
Complete set ups in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with all scheduled production requirements
Participate in the implementation of ideas that reduce downtime and improve overall productivity
Assure that raw materials, components and spare parts are stocked and available for immediate use, to minimize downtime
Demonstration of safety awareness and execution of safety policies and procedures at all times, while maintaining a safe and orderly work environment
Maintain standard operating cycles, wherever reasonable. If standard cycle cannot be maintained, document reasons why.
Perform material handling duties (maintaining material in hoppers, material/color changes, mixing dye, material inventory) as required
Relieve Packers as needed
Communicate effectively with shift supervisor, operators and other department personnel
Utilize all of Woodstream’s documentation procedures as required
Trains Packers and Machine operators.
Ensures records of operations are filled out correctly and completely.
Inspects completed work for conformance to expectations and work standards
Maintains professional appearance in technical work areas with an emphasis on housekeeping.
Works closely with Production Supervisors to ensure equipment availability on demand
Will assist in operations, in any way deemed essential to meet Woodstream’s production requirements
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Assists Maintenance in trouble shooting /fixing issues with facility and equipment
Works with Maintenance to do specific project work in plant.
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS:
HSD / GED required
Electrical schooling/training experience
An understanding of basic math skills
The ability to use basic measurement tools
Hands on experience with basic machining tools
The ability to perform/repair electric issues with molds, machines and facility.
Set-up/troubleshooting, repair and maintenance experience in a machine based manufacturing environment
Willingness to be flexible on hours worked
Familiar with computer usage including MS Office products and AS400
Willingness to be certified as a CPR and 1st Aid Responder
Must be able to analyze problems and make rational decisions with minimal supervision
Must possess a positive attitude and enjoy working with others
Must have demonstrated the ability to lead others in a positive work environment
Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude
Effective problem solving skills directed at increasing throughput, quality and safety
Ability to continually learn and develop new skills and knowledge
Methodical and effective troubleshooting skills
Effective communication skills
Initiative to pursue both personal and team goals and objectives
