Senior Facility Service Technician, Aquatics

Part Time, 48 Hours a pay period, Day Shift

In addition to the amenities found throughout the gym our programs include aquatics, racquet sports, youth classes, individual training opportunities, Weight Management program, Small Group Training, virtual fitness, and group fitness. Our group fitness classes range from kickboxing and cardio classes to indoor cycling and mind/body wellness. Strength training options include resistance equipment, free weights, and body sculpting classes.

Position Summary:

Assist the Aquatics Manager on all functions of pool maintenance including but not limited to indoor and outdoor pumps, heaters, chlorinators and filters. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks on all of the above pool mechanics. To monitor and maintain pool chemical checks to ensure levels are compliant with Health Department standards. Monitor and guard indoor and outdoor pool as directed by the Aquatics Manager. To open the aquatics department on a daily basis and complete the opening check list as prepared by Aquatics Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance:

  • Conducts preventative maintenance on aquatics equipment on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

  • Be proactive with regard to preventing machines/equipment from deteriorating and going down

  • Keeps machines and equipment in good working condition

  • Down Equipment:

  • Repairs down equipment as appropriate

  • Contacts appropriate facilitation if repair is out of scope of skill set

  • Assists Aquatics Manager with ordering replacement parts as appropriate

  • Club Opening:

  • Position is responsible for opening the Aquatics Department as scheduled by Aquatics Manager

  • Prepares department for opening by completing daily opening check list

  • Works daily lifeguard shift and assists by filling in for absences when appropriate

  • Pool Operations:

  • Conducts weekly/monthly backwashing, shock for all pools and/or as directed by Aquatics Manager

  • Conducts daily chemical checks as per protocol and adjusts as appropriate

  • Responsible for completing daily cleaning check lists and overall cleanliness of department as required by Aquatics Manager

  • Lifeguarding:

  • Positon is responsible for daily opening lifeguarding shift to ensure safety of patrons

  • Helps cover Lifeguard shifts as needed in the department

  • Responsible for recognizing and responding to emergency situations

  • Enforces all rules, policies and procedures set forth to protect the safety of the members and their guests

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to high school diploma or GED. Preference given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

One to two (1-2) years’ experience working as a pool operator or equivalent.

License Requirement:

Lifeguard certification eligible and required within 30 days of employment. Pool Operator certification preferred but not required.
