WestRock Company Assistant Operator in Knoxville, Tennessee

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible to assist with all cutting operations on their shift/machine.

  • Assist with performing quality checks on the product they produce and materials coming to their machine. Ensure quality meets customer standards before leaving the department or a non-conforming tag must be completed.

  • Provide a clean/safe working environment to themselves and employees in their work area.

  • Assist with make-readies.

  • Ensure all cutters have stock to run.

  • Cover breaks for Operators as needed.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and upkeep on production equipment.

  • Keep department in specs within all 5S requirements.

  • Each person, regardless of role or position is responsible for Food Packaging Safety and Quality.

  • Execute job duties in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Report to management any issue or event that poses a risk to employee safety, the environment and facilities, or food packaging safety and quality.

  • Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and instructions to the best of your ability.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, corrective actions, and training.

  • Safe operation of motorized pallet jacks.

  • Ensure the safety of all individuals on your crew

  • Ensure daily focus on following all safety related policies and procedures (i.e., PPE, LOTO, etc.,)

  • Coach any teammates not following safety requirements, follow up with management as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
