Job Summary:

As a Grooming Supervisor, you will be one of a proud and respected team producing quality grooming acreage at Kirkwood Mountain. Your team will be part of a wider team responsible for the final product each morning, getting the mountains open and safe for all our guests. This involves on-hill staff supervision, quality control of grooming, oversight of daily Terrain Park scheduling and operations and the monitoring and safeguarding of our equipment and environment. You will be required to carry out major leadership tasks including but not limited to safety, training, personal Goals and Objectives, discipline, recognition, performance reviews, and damage follow-up. You will inspire your staff by leading by example with an excellent work ethic and a positive attitude.

Job Specifications:

  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Winter Seasonal / Full Time

  • The budgeted range starts at $29.00 - $36.62. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest's expectations and provide them with the finest mountain recreation experience through the best grooming in North America.

  • Provides leadership, promotes team spirit and cooperative work ethics, and provides the most outstanding examples of friendly, collaborative relationships with our guests and other staff within the Grooming Team.

  • Shows initiative in handling routine matters and quick, thoughtful judgment in emergencies.

  • Safety first: Is vigilant of and corrects unusual or unsafe situations anywhere on our Mountain, whether on duty or off.

  • Champion Terrain Park design committee

  • Scheduling of Terrain Park grooming operators

  • Ensures proper and complete documentation of grooming maps, shift reports, cat log sheets, and timesheets.

  • Assist with departmental human resources management, including hiring and ongoing coaching of staff, progressive disciplinary actions when necessary, completion and follow-up with ENABLON, and performance reviews for the crew.

  • Responsible for the efficient planning and coordinating of slope preparation and related work assignments.

  • Actively supervise the quality of grooming by staff and provide proper feedback.

  • Ensures proper training on all equipment and correct safety and operating procedures.

  • Be aware of upcoming weather conditions and anticipate strategies to maintain the quality of the grooming product and the department's daily operations.

  • Assumes the responsible charge of the Grooming Team and provides leadership.

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with other departments and managers.

  • Provide operational support in all areas and respond to emergencies, unusual or specific situations with timely workforce and assistance.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous supervisory experiences an asset

  • Early season start-up experience an asset

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in grooming.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Must possess a strong mechanical ability and capable of troubleshooting equipment.

  • Minimum computer skills required for email communication and report filing.

  • Must be well-groomed, in good physical condition, mature, energetic, and dependable.

The expected pay range is $29.00 - $36.62. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
