Robert Half Category Lead in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania

Description

A client of ours is looking for a Category Lead for a contract role. The Category Lead will be responsible for leading and managing procurement activities within the designated category. This role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and extensive experience in procurement processes. This also includes being responsible for building strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand critical requirements and expected outcomes for the business. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in procurement and be proficient in MSP, VMS, Workday, and Fieldglass.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies to achieve business objectives and deliver cost savings.

  • Lead sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management.

  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.

  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects and manage contracts and RFPs that are of higher complexity and require a greater degree of strategic insight

  • Utilize procurement systems, including MSP, VMS, Workday, and Fieldglass, to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.

  • Drives change management to improve processes and facilitate ease of procurement

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Over 10 years of experience in procurement, with a proven track record of success in category management.

  • Preferred experience with MSP (Managed Service Provider) and VMS (Vendor Management System).

  • Proficiency in Workday and Fieldglass is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and contract management abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong proven and strategic negotiation experience in indirect spend goods are a plus.
