Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently seeking to add a Geologist to our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our local remediation and compliance team on complex environmental investigation and remediation projects at sites with multi-media contamination that includes a wide range of contaminants.

Typical activities include environmental assessments, field investigations, environmental audits, feasibility testing, environmental remediation support and oversite, data analysis, reporting, logistical planning, and scheduling.

This position can be based out of any Stantec southeast office location (TN, GA, KY).

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Field investigations and remediation/abatement of soil, ground water, soil vapor, and hazardous building materials.

  • Site health and safety planning and completing work safely.

  • Coordinate and assist with scheduling field investigations.

  • Conducting site evaluations and preparing reports such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, sampling and analysis reports, and regulatory submittals.

  • Fieldwork, including overnight travel, and some regional, national, and international travel, when necessary. Individuals can expect to travel 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.

  • Oversee and conduct field data collection, sampling events and field analysis including:

    • Soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling events and field investigations.
    • Logging soil and rock core for subsurface explorations, including installing monitoring wells and piezometers;
    • Performing aquifer testing and groundwater flow evaluations;
    • Soil, groundwater, surface water and air sampling for analytical analysis; and
    • Environmental, health, and safety compliance sampling, investigations and audits
    • Hazardous building materials along with asbestos, lead based paint, and other regulated materials
    • Environmental site assessments, including phase I ESAs, and environmental audits.
  • Data compilation, and report generation to meet client and industry requirements.

  • Working effectively with multi-disciplinary project teams of scientists, engineers, chemists, geologists, hydrogeologists, and field personnel to achieve project goals.

  • Assuring the quality of all work and product deliverables and achievement of project objectives.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A current Professional Geologist license, or the ability to immediately apply for licensure required.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with both clients and project team members.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently and meet strict project deadlines.

  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally as required for proposal and project needs. Individuals can expect to travel 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.

  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity software

  • Familiarity with GIS, CADD, and database software is preferred.

  • Must be able to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work outdoors in a physically active environment and in adverse weather conditions.

  • Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.

  • 5 -10 years of relevant experience.
