Role Overview

As an IoT Systems Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and integrations. Your role will encompass a blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and comprehensive project management to deliver robust and scalable IoT solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, data scientists, and business strategists, to create and maintain innovative solutions that enhance connected to solutions and drive growth. Help resolve IoT connectivity issues with internal resource and with customers.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design and Architecture

  • Develop end-to-end IoT solutions, encompassing hardware, software, and network components.

  • Design scalable and secure IoT architectures that integrate with existing systems and platforms.

  • Vendor liaison with Shape IoT solution providers.

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and system designs.

Implementation and Development

  • Lead the deployment of IoT solutions, ensuring seamless integration and functionality. IoT escalation expert managing and resolving customer installation and connectivity issues and complaints.

  • Develop supporting documentation and participate in testing IoT applications, firmware, and middleware.

  • Work with embedded systems and microcontrollers to create efficient and reliable IoT devices.

  • Ensure security protocols and best practices are used to protect data and devices from potential threats.

Project Management

  • Oversee IoT projects/tasks from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the successful implementation of IoT solutions.

  • Facilitate clear communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cross functional team members.

Research and Innovation

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in IoT technologies.

  • Conduct research to identify new opportunities for IoT applications and improvements.

  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to expand knowledge and network.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. IoT related Certifications are a plus.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing IoT solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of IoT protocols, standards, and frameworks (e.g., MQTT, OPCUA, HTTP, etc.).

  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and sensor integration.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or JavaScript and Json data streams. Familiarity with C+, .net and/or Java.

  • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops tool suite

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT).

  • Understanding of network protocols and security best practices.

  • Proficient knowledge of TCP, Modbus over TCP.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning in the context of IoT.

  • Knowledge of edge computing and fog computing paradigms.

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and applications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
