Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aProduction Plannerto join theLighting Sector Kenall Team.This is ahybrid position in Kenosha, WI.The Production Planner will utilize planning experience and expertise to effectively plan and schedule production effectively in accordance with operational goals and requirements. Provide a liaison between Kenall’s assembly, fabrication, purchasing, engineering and sales departments in matters concerning and/or impacting production schedules. Proactively review issues impacting schedules/deliveries and take appropriate corrective action. Review and maintain materials to ensure proper system accuracy and optimize flow. Direct the planning and coordination of material flow used in production. Provide back-up support for planning and scheduling positions.

What Will You Do?

Essential Job functions:

  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of assembly, paint, fabrication, and other material impacting production.

  • Release manufacturing orders to meet department needs and evaluate schedule adherence.

  • Check work activities, evaluate delays and offer recommendation for improvement to meet customer requirements.

  • Review and improve procedures for level loading and executing schedules to meet customer requirements.

  • Oversee established methods for scheduling and apply to all production.

  • Evaluate customer orders and assign charges to cancellation and premium orders.

  • A nalyze requirements and identify capacity constraints to meet production needs.

  • Work closely with manufacturing supervisors, purchasing buyers and sales departments to communicate and resolve schedule problems, request special material needs and relay schedule change information. Work closely with assembly and paint departments to understand operations and process constraints.

  • Evaluate and respond to customer service on customer order expedites.

  • Maintain planned finished goods, Stock, and ROP/ROQ, lot size inventory. Evaluate to ensure proper quantities are planned and updated in a timely manner.

  • Assist with creation and maintenance of Planning/Scheduling reports.

  • Work with Engineering on bill of material discrepancies and end of life parameters.

  • Participate in company programs and committee groups established to improve quality, reduce costs and satisfy customer requirements.

  • Recommend items related to continuous improvement, evaluation and recommendations for departmental improvements for work flow, procedures and computer enhancements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    General Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in ongoing individual training / development program.

  • Set goals and objectives with Manager; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.

  • Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work area.

  • Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs and processes.

  • Perform backup functions to other team members and Manager as instructed. Engage in cross-training to support back-up efforts as directed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • BA/BS in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business or Computer Science, preferred.

  • CPIM or CSCP certification desirable.

  • Minimum 7 years of Materials/Planning/Production Control or related experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of MRP and Capacity Planning theory/application.

  • Experience with Epicor or other ERP package

  • Make–to-Order manufacturing experience a plus

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

  • Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

  • High level of self-initiative and dependability.

  • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.

  • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work within a team environment.

  • Must possess positive, "can do" attitude.
