Description
Job Purpose: This is a professional position that is responsible for all aspects of appropriate pharmaceutical dispensing at an assigned location for clients within service programs. Provides clinical support in coordination with physician, case management and nursing services in delivering quality and cost-effective drug therapy to patients. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A "POOL"POSITION)

Essential Job Functions:

Interprets physicians’ prescriptions and enters prescription and patient data into computer system. Checks for drug interactions and allergies.
Provides Pharmacy Technician prescription information and supervises filling of same.
Verifies prescriptions after filled by Pharmacy Technician
Counsels case managers and clients over the phone and in person. Conveys pertinent information regarding use of medications and potential interactions. Ensures client understanding of the medication treatment program.
Consults with other health care professionals and conducts research to ensure that all services are in the best interest of the patient and conform to established professional standards and applicable state laws.
Compares product prices with competitors to gauge competitiveness and profitability.
Reviews inventory on daily basis. Places orders for medication as necessary. Maintains appropriate level of supplies.
Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training seminars and conferences as required.
Works in partnership with the quality department to develop appropriate measures in support of program outcomes.
Participates in department quality planning activities, (e.g. continuous improvement, Logic models, performance metrics, etc.,)
Performs special assignments and or projects as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure and Credentials: (Where appropriate, education and/or experience may be substituted)
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s or PharmD degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university
Minimum Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a healthcare setting; Experience working in a long-term care or mail order facility is preferred.
Required License – Certification – Registration :
Issued By Governing Body (if applicable): Registered Pharmacist license with the State of Wisconsin required.
Knowledge – Skills – Abilities:
Must have high attention to detail and strong mathematical skills.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Professional workplace appearance and conduct; friendliness and courtesy to clients, coworkers, and vendors.
Experience with the FrameworkLTC pharmacy computer system is preferred.
Previous experience in providing health care services to the disabled is desirable.
Experience working with those with severe and persistent mental illnesses is desirable.
Understanding of the prescription billing process from adjudication through reconciliation is desirable.
Previous experience with pharmacy automation including system interfaces desirable.

Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions:
Physical Requirements : This position works in a fast-paced office setting and frequently utilizes various office equipment including, but not limited to, a personal computer, multi-line telephone, fax machine, office copier. On occasion must be able to push/pull/lift/move objects weighing at least 10 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive fine motor skill-based tasks.
Visual Acuity : The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal. Ability to see objects at close vision and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
Working Conditions : None: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
