How will you make an impact in this role?

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI Engineer to join the AMEX Mission Control Tools Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies, with a focus on both generative AI and traditional AI/ML methods. This role requires a blend of technical skills, including experience with python, vector search, and other programmatic techniques, to design and implement innovative solutions that solve real world problems for Mission Control and the Enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Solution Design and Implementation :

• Engage with stakeholders from the initial problem statement phase to define clear requirements. This includes understanding business challenges and translating them into actionable technical solutions.

• Collaborate with business teams and end users to design AI-driven solutions that align with business objectives and technical constraints.

• Lead the full project lifecycle—from design to implementation—writing high-quality code that integrates AI models, algorithms, and programmatic techniques to solve complex business problems.

• AI Expertise and Innovation:

• Apply expertise in generative AI, traditional AI/ML techniques, and advanced methods like vector search to architect solutions that deliver meaningful business impact.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and developments in the AI/ML space, with a particular focus on large language models (LLMs), and apply them to business use cases where relevant.

• Collaboration and Problem-Solving:

• Work cross-functionally with teams such as product, data science, and engineering to ensure AI solutions are scalable, maintainable, and impactful.

• Act as a subject matter expert on AI-related topics within the organization, providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members.

• Continuous Learning and Development:

• Regularly research and experiment with the latest AI/ML techniques, tools, and frameworks to remain at the cutting edge of the field.

• Ensure best practices are followed in the implementation of AI solutions, emphasizing high performance, accuracy, and ethical considerations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience:

• 5 years of overall professional experience, with at least 2 years of experience specifically in AI/ML development and deployment.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing AI solutions from concept to delivery in a professional setting.

• Solid understanding of both traditional programming techniques and modern AI/ML methods, including experience with vector search and data indexing techniques. Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI development (Python, Java, etc.).

• Hands-on experience with popular AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and libraries for vector search (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone).

• Strong understanding of large language models (LLMs), their use cases, and practical applications in solving business problems.

• Mandatory skills - python, database skills, AI ML

Preferred Qualifications

• DevOps knowledge for highly available IT infrastructure.

• Building live production APIs and services.

• Experience with automation development.

• Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methods.

• Hands-on expertise with application design, software development and automated testing.

• Experience with relevant business domain related functions.
