About the Role

We’re looking for a Team Lead Data Scientist for GenAI to join our Data Science team of 20+ in our analytics centre in Karlsruhe or our headquarter in London. This role is a unique opportunity to explore and shape the GenAI model landscape in a large data business with 20,000+ B2B users and rich proprietary content & data on global markets and forecasts which no other model has access to. Our vision is that through natural language, human decision makers can search, understand, visualize and summarise current global market trends as well as interrogate global data, connect with our numerical predictive models on future trends and forecasts, and derive personalised decision recommendations through Agentic AI. Your team is part of a cross-functional development group with technologists, UX researchers, product and data scientists that focuses on experimenting on and continuously optimizing the GenAI layer in our array of Data Science models behind already customer-facing GenAI & analytics products. You will be expected to continually learn and apply new skills.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

• D esign , d evelop, deploy, continuously evaluate and optimi z e model architecture s to achieve our GenAI and Agentic AI vision in close collaboration with cross functional team members and external development partners. R ecommend & explore model design choice s and options to optimise for result quality, domain knowledge context, speed, understandability, cost, stability etc

• Coordinate a small team of 3- 5 Data Scientists hands-on on the execution of the product-led roadmap in close integration with software developers and engineers

• Align the backlog for GenAI with product manager(s) , UX researchers and technology leaders . Contribute Data Science building blocks to the backlog and a rticulate the added value

• Work with other internal Data Science teams to c onnect GenAI solutions with other predictive & prescriptive data and models into a coherent and customisable customer experience

• Creatively identify , share and experiment on new model opportunities for internal/external business use cases . Analyse model usage and feed insights back into the development process

• Contribute to our 20+ Data Scien tist community & culture by fostering team spirit, engagement, and sharing learnings & best practices

  Key Skills / Experience Required:

• 3-5 + years industry experience in GenAI related technologies such as Deep Learning and NLP . Personal track record of success . In-depth knowledge of underlying concepts behind LLMs .

• Initial e xperience in c oordinating small teams and setting teams up for success . Achieving high team morale ( L ine management responsibility a plus)

• Initial experience in p roject coordination with stakeholders outside Data Science

• S tandard python machine learning & NLP techniques and popular libraries ( eg Pytorch , Tensorflow , nltk , genism, spacy)

• Essential software development principles (modularisation, versioning eg with GIT, tests, understandable code)

• Degree in a scientific field relevant to Data Science

• Strong communication and collaboration skills (in English)

• Agentic workflows and knowledge graphs

• Scrum and project mgmt. best practices

• Personal i nterest to learn about commodity markets and trading

Dein Aufgabenfeld:

• Entwicklung , Implementierung, kontinuierliche Bewertung und Optimierung von Modellarchitekturen zur Umsetzung unserer GenAI - und Agentic -AI-Vision in enger Zusammenarbeit mit interdisziplinären Teammitgliedern und externen Entwicklungspartnern.

• Empfehlung und Exploration von Modell-Design-Optionen zur Optimierung von Ergebnisqualität, Domain Knowledge , Geschwindigkeit, Verständlichkeit, Kosten und Stabilität.

• Hands-on-Koordination eines kleinen Teams von 3–5 Data Scientists zur Umsetzung der produktbasierten Roadmap in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Softwareentwicklern und Ingenieuren.

• Abstimmung des GenAI -Backlogs mit Produktmanager*innen, UX-Forscher *innen und Technologieverantwortlichen. Definition der Data-Science- Arbeitsstränge und Erklärung des Mehrwerts.

• Zusammenarbeit mit anderen internen Data-Science-Teams zur Integration von GenAI -Lösungen mit Vorhersage-Modellen für eine konsistente personalisierbare Kundenlösung .

• Kreative Identifikation, Evaluierung und Erprobung neuer Modellanwendungen für interne und externe Analytics Use Cases. Analyse der Nutzungsdaten und Einbringung gewonnener Erkenntnisse in den Entwicklungsprozess.

• Beitrag zur internen Data-Science-Community (20+ Data Scientists ) durch Förderung des Teamgeists, Engagement und Austausch von Best Practices.

  Du bringst mit:

• Mindestens 3–5 Jahre Berufserfahrung mit GenAI -Technologien, insbesondere Deep Learning und NLP. Nachgewiesene Erfolge in diesem Bereich. Tiefgehendes Verständnis der zugrundeliegenden Konzepte von LLMs.

• Erste Erfahrungen in der Leitung kleiner Teams und in der Schaffung einer produktiven Teamdynamik (Linienführungsverantwortung von Vorteil).

• Erste Erfahrungen in der Projektkoordination mit Stakeholdern außerhalb des Data-Science-Bereichs.

• Erfahrung mit gängigen Machine -Learning- & NLP-Techniken in Python (z. B. Pytorch , TensorFlow , NLTK, Gensim , spaCy ).

• Grundlegende Softwareentwicklungsprinzipien (Modularisierung, Versionierung mit Git , Tests, verständlicher Code).

• Abgeschlossenes Studium in einem wissenschaftlichen Fachgebiet mit Relevanz für Data Science.
