We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to play a key role in furthering our mission in our Administration area.
Summary/Objective:
Assist with processing payroll and maintaining the employee database to ensure accurate records and completing bi-weekly payroll for over 750 employees.
The record keeping should follow uniform standards and principles of accounting.
To fulfill Goodwill’s mission statement.
Education/Experience:
A high school diploma and 5 years of accounting or payroll experience
Associate’s or bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred
Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles required.
Experience with ADP preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
A valid driver’s license and insurability required.
Special Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be bondable. Must be able to work with volunteers and organizations and have sufficient competence to professional workers both within the organization and outside. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, 10 key by touch.
Essential Functions:
Payroll responsibilities
Processes payroll for bi-weekly payroll as required by the Director of Payroll and Benefits.
Updates employee payroll records by entering new hires, terminations, employee changes, job changes.
Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll questions.
Prepares and maintains payroll reports as may be required by Payroll and Benefits Manager.
Completes employee verification requests.
Assists with garnishments and withholdings.
Provide back-up to the Director of Payroll and Benefits as needed.
Benefit responsibilities
Assists with employee benefits administration including employee benefit plan enrollments, payroll deductions and processing benefit changes.
Assists with Cobra administration.
Assists with Benefit Open Enrollment process.
Provide back-up to the Director of Payroll and Benefits as needed.
