TEKsystems VMware Engineer *Requires DoD Secret Clearance* in Kansas City, Missouri

Description:

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Virtualization System Administrator who has a focus in cloud monitoring. The role involves enabling the customer worldwide to host mission-critical applications across multiple cloud platforms including on-prem, AWS, Azure, and VMWare Cloud on AWS. Key responsibilities include designing, deploying, maintaining, and configuring virtualization infrastructure; managing hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud virtualization tools; ensuring cybersecurity compliance; providing subject matter expertise for incident resolution; developing training for new systems; participating in engineering and planning efforts; monitoring vendor updates; and automating data center management.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs, deploys, maintains, configures, and sustains virtualization infrastructure (VMWare, Azure & AWS) and datacenter monitoring and management applications, including: VMWare's Aria Operations and Orchestration suites, APC StruxureWare DCE, PRTG, FTP Solutions, and any monitoring agents and plugins and integrations associated with these or other applications or cloud environments.

  • Designs, deploys, maintains, configures, and sustains hybrid-cloud, multi-cloud, multi-tenant virtualization, management and orchestration tools such as VMware Cloud Director (VCD) and Aria Automation.

  • Providing support to EHM users of the existing on-prem monitoring and system management solutions, including the VMware Aria suite, consisting of VMware Identity Manager, Aria Suite Lifecycle, Aria Automation, Aria Operations, Aria Operations for Logs, and Aria Operations for Networks.

  • Hardens, maintains vulnerability management posture, and supports development of POA&M to ensure compliance of management and monitoring tools with cybersecurity requirements and approved secure configurations.

  • Serves as an application/infrastructure SME; leading investigation and diagnosis, workaround enactment, root cause analysis and resolution for all incidents and problems.

  • Coordinates within Operations teams and event/incident/problem management staff to identify appropriate alerting levels, dashboards, processes, response actions, and supports configuration of tools to provide highly effective proactive management and monitoring capabilities both on prem and in the cloud.

  • Works with Training Developer and TAC lead to develop and deliver training on new infrastructure systems, management and monitoring tools to operations and Technical Assistance Center teams.

  • Participates in engineering, design, planning, project, and evaluation efforts to recommend and execute architectural changes

  • Monitors vendor notices and releases and coordinates with vendors for updates, security issues, and new capability delivery to incorporate required changes and evaluate and implement best practices in datacenter operations

  • Creates and maintains application documentation including engineering, operations, process, procedure and work instructions for the implementation, operation and maintenance of management and monitoring systems.

  • Identify opportunities to automate management and monitoring of data center infrastructure.

  • Participate in all ITSM, RMF, Project Management, and Agile processes that drive HCS operations

  • Providing recommendations and guidance on any 3rd party cloud monitoring and management solutions that the program may decide to procure in the future.

  • Provide regular on-site support for unclassified/classified application systems Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM CST and 5:00 PM CST. (Core Hours 0900-1500 local)

  • EHM/HCS provides 24/7/365 support for the systems we manage. Additional on-call support required through a team-based rotation. 1 week a month. Occasional scheduled weekend work may be required as well.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires:

  • Years of experience: High School Degree + 11 years OR Bachelor’s Degree + 3 years

  • DoD Secret Clearance.

  • IAT Level II certification.

  • Candidate must be of a senior level and possess general knowledge pertaining to multiple technical disciplines associated with datacenter operations (Hardware, Networking, Storage, OS, Virtualization, etc.), Linux System Administration.

  • Knowledge and practical experience with the following technologies: Native AWS/Azure Cloud Monitoring Solutions (CloudWatch, Sentinel, Azure Monitor, Cloud Trail, etc.)

  • Understanding of DISA Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA) and Microsoft’s Secure Azure Cloud Architecture (SACA)

  • Experience with cloud and virtualization system management in WS and/or Azure as well as on-premise VMware environments.

  • Experience managing and configuring event management platforms for availability, performance, security, and capacity monitoring.

  • Knowledge and experience with the VMware Aria Suite, especially VMware Aria Operations (formerly VMware vRealize Operations Manager) and Aria Operations for Logs (formerly VMware vRealize Log Insight).

  • This individual will need to be a strong self-starter and work well as an individual contributor as well as part of a team. Goal focused mentality and creative problem-solver.

  • Experience and skill in documenting system configurations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
