Honeywell Mechanical Engineer III - Excess & Reclamation in Kansas City, Missouri
Summary
The Mechanical Engineer III v versees product and high-risk property sanitization and destruction process. Complies with all guidelines outlined in the KCNSC demilitarization plan and generates dispositions for all scrap requests. Provides dispositions to scrap parts, solid materials, tools, gages, testers and associated equipment. Work closely with the Classification Office to determine the level of the destruction required. Prepares necessary written Teardown Instructions (TDIs) and train Chemical Material Handlers on the execution of the actions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide dispositions for KCNSC classified & unclassified parts/assemblies, solid material, tool/gage, KCNSC built test equipment associated with such parts/assemblies
Maintain and write product TDIs. Appropriate level of sanitization and destruction shall be outlined in such instruction sets
Identify gaps in capability of existing product equipment and procure /prove-in capital equipment to support activities
Maintain and write TDI’s for classified and sensitive unclassified weapons components, tools, gages, test equipment, small arms, ammunition, explosives, tactical equipment and high risk property. The level of destruction shall be outlined in the TDI’s
Collaborate with Waste Management engineers to determine proper waste stream for sanitized components and material
Train Chemical Material Handlers on execution of all dispositions and instructions
Prepare sanitization and destruction quotes for Work for Others and other customers
May perform other duties as required. Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to ""stop"" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified
You Must Have
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics
4+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities
United States Citizenship
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
