Honeywell Lead Mechanical Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

Acts as authority in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Plans, conducts, and coordinates a broad range of complex professional research, development, design, technology, manufacturing, or quality assignments requiring extensive knowledge of advanced techniques and principles and their application to specific projects. Works under administrative direction only with considerable latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and leading of technical projects with major scope and complexity that significantly impact the business

  • Lead support of facilities transformation in support of projects, design reviews, equipment evaluations, construction installation reviews. Coordinating worth throughout the engineering team to support these efforts.

  • Significant external leadership and recognition including extensive customer interface.

  • Advises and consulted as technical expert to other technical and administrative personnel to drive and implement short and long-term project objectives.

  • Estimates manpower requirements and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical requirements.

  • Prepares comprehensive proposals and cost estimates, evaluates progress and results, and recommends and directs the implementation of major revisions in approaches and objectives; may set, modify or negotiate schedule changes and dates.

  • Produces substantial impact based on technical advances and innovation or improvement in existing technologies. Recommends and directs the implementation of major revisions in approaches and objectives.

  • Negotiates complex states of work, schedules, budgets, and anticipates and resolves issues regarding customer relationships.

  • Champions initiatives to resolve critical process and technology related issues.

  • Leads, trains and mentors junior engineers on technical issues and business acumen.

  • Stays current with relevant emerging technology and business trends. Uses business knowledge to evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors.

  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

You Must Have

Ability to travel up to 15% of the time Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.

  • United States Citizenship

  • Experience with facility expansion projects including interfacing with site design engineers and architects, specifying plant resources such as electrical power distribution, ventilation exhaust, overhead cranes, HVAC, compressed air, nitrogen, chilled water cooling and other systems.

  • Experience leading acquisition and installation projects including installation and leveling of complex equipment, plant utility connections, machine acceptance testing. Familiar with machine tool alignment and accuracy verification technologies.

  • Technical expertise to lead complex machine rebuild and upgrade projects involving control, electrical power, hydraulic and vacuum systems.

  • Develop equipment maintenance strategies utilizing predictive technologies, preventative maintenance scheduling and optimized spare parts inventory.
