Role Summary/Purpose

The SVP, Disputes, is a new role responsible for leading the strategy and execution of Disputes. This role supports Synchrony's ability to satisfy regulatory expectations while delivering world-class customer experience for consumers and merchants across the credit lifecycle. The role leads the strategy, drives business metrics, ensures process rigor and governance and focuses on Diversity, Culture, Talent Development, and Talent Engagement, leading an organization of 800 employees. This role will report to the SVP, Global Collections, Recovery & Operational Solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Strong people, process and transformation mid-set while setting the culture and vision of teams across multiple U.S. and international locations

  • L2 owner for the disputes processes

  • Provides innovative leadership partnering with process owners and cross-functional stakeholders to improve disputes processes and improve customer and control effectiveness

  • This role will involve dealing with various regulators and the successful candidate will have in depth experience with the different regulatory bodies

  • Complete regular benchmarking and actively participate in industry groups. Stay abreast of the regulatory environment and industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and risks to drive improved customer satisfaction and business processes.

  • Partners with Risk function ensure implementation and compliance with critical to compliance ('CTCs') and Operational Risk requirements

  • Lead exam/audit readiness efforts. Interpret and respond to regulatory requests and feedback including Surveillance and Compliance requests

  • Cross functional collaboration to address impact of disputes strategies

  • Continuous assessment of financial, process, and workforce impacts and pursue strategies to minimize negative impact.

  • Create talent and diversity strategies to identify, develop and grow strong talent in partnership with human resources and other business leaders

  • Establish effective cost management, staffing and performance management strategies in-order-to achieve financial goals

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years work experience, in lieu of degree, 15+ years equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 7 years process ownership in a regulated industry

  • Minimum 5 years' experience interacting with external financial regulatory agencies

  • 5+ years leadership experience managing a large team, and demonstrated ability to inspire others and develop future talent .

  • Proven positive leadership skills relative to interaction with peers and employees at all levels

  • Demonstrated experience influencing leaders including Senior and Executive Leaders

  • Process design and heavy change management experience, demonstrating ability to lead strategy from concept through to practical execution and ongoing run with independence

  • Experience driving innovation and process improvement initiatives.

  • Excellent Presentation skills

  • Proven Microsoft skills in Office, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple initiatives and achieve performance goals in a high-volume environment. A strong understanding of both operations and collections.

  • Strong Collaboration and demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence others in a matrix environment

  • Strong financial management, analytical and leadership skills

  • Effective cross-functional communication and organization skills

  • High degree of flexibility and ability to anticipate and drive change

  • Demonstrated ability to drive and influence culture change

  • Understanding of current and potential future regulatory requirements

  • Strong project planning, tracking, reporting and execution skills

Grade/Level: 15

The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
