Responsibilities You will install, modify, test, repair, and maintain transformers, regulator, cables, switches, circuit breakers, mechanical and electronic systems, and other circuit elements found in substations up to 12,000 volts. You will perform repairs, modifications, connections, and/or installations in a timely, efficient, and complete manner. You will make emergency cutouts and substitutions of power lines and equipment, sometimes working on distribution systems when they are energized. You will operate equipment in a safe manner, applying established safety rules and regulations to minimize minor violations and to avoid major violations. You will inform the supervisor of any accident and/or damage to supplies or equipment or of any observed unsafe practices and/or procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
