The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Developing new products and product platforms to expand 3M’s semiconductor back-end-of-line (BEOL) product families to enhance product competition and secure our position in the marketplace.

• Here, BEOL product families mean a group of products consisting of embossed plastic tape and its cover tape used to transport very small semiconductor chips and electronic components in the semiconductor and electronic component industries

• It is particularly important to make use of your knowledge and experience of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA).

• Product engineering and management to maintain existing products

• This mainly involves working with the Quality team and the Manufacturing team to maintain existing products, finding solutions to quality issues, finding alternative RMs, and carrying out various types of documentation.

• Commercializing new products aligned to global customer needs in collaboration with division-wide, cross-functional teams

• EMSD has a wide range of PSA tape products, so depending on the situation, your knowledge and experience with PSA may not be limited to BEOL product families, but may be used widely for developing PSA tapes and for solving problems in other product families.

• Developing a strong understanding of our customer/market needs especially as it relates to critical quality metrics

• Identifying and leveraging external interactions to accelerate technology and product development

• Initiating and contributing to the development of Intellectual Property and IP strategies

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Polymer Science/Engineering from an accredited institution and five years of product development, process engineering, or laboratory research in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Polymer Science/Engineering from an accredited institution

• Proven experience designing new PSA systems or PSA tape products in terms of customer needs to product requirements in a private or public environment

• Proven track record through publications, conference presentations, and/or published IP

• Demonstrated history of significant contributions to an organization through growth initiatives

• Collaborative interpersonal style with experience leading project teams

• Passion and curiosity to address industry challenges

• Self-motivated with a strong growth mindset.

• Excellent technical presentation skills and oral communication skills

スキルと専門知識

この職務で初日から成功を収めるために、この職務では以下の資格を必要としています。

• 大学及び認定機関で、化学工学、材料科学、化学、または高分子科学/工学の修士号以上を取得し、民間、公共、政府、軍事のいずれかの環境で、製品開発、プロセスエンジニアリング、または研究室での研究に３年間従事した経験
