Kalamazoo County Government Lead Maintenance Technician in Kalamazoo, Michigan

* GENERAL SUMMARY*
The purpose of this job is to maintain the grounds and buildings of county facilities and parks. Performs preventative maintenance tasks, completes equipment inspections and repairs, and places orders to replenish inventory. Maintains maintenance logs and records. Installs and repairs facility infrastructures. Performs pesticide and fertilizer application.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains, repairs, and improves Parks & Expo Center equipment; performs the full range of preventative maintenance tasks and completes equipment inspections.
- Places orders and maintains inventory, including parts and supplies.
- Serves as liaison for external vendors and maintains maintenance logs and records.
- Maintains and operates Parks & Expo Center equipment, including a fleet of tractors, loaders, commercial lawnmowers, utility vehicles, snowplows, trailers, and small engine lawn maintenance equipment.
- Maintains, repairs, and improves Park & Expo Center facilities; performs plumbing, electrical, and HVAC diagnostics, repair, and construction; maintains maintenance logs and records.
- Installs doors, windows, roofing, siding, trim, etc.; constructs gatehouses and small buildings; remodels restrooms and existing buildings.
- Pours concrete slabs, walkways, and posts; installs flooring and ceiling frames walls; installs drywall and paints.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- 6 months + training beyond High School
- 1 to 3 years of related work experience in equipment operation, repair, and general construction.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators License must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
- Michigan DOT Medical Examiners Certificate, obtained post-employment.
