BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The M GB MAINTENANCE - KAHULUI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)

JOB FUNCTION:

Performs maintenance work on and installs power plant machinery, related auxiliary equipment, and instrumentation/controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

As a Maintenance Mechanic at the maximum level, performs the following duties. As a Maintenance Mechanic at lower levels, performs the following duties under direction or direct supervision in accordance with the various stages of training:

  • Works from blueprints, sketches and written or oral instructions.

  • Performs operational or overhaul maintenance on power plant equipment, related auxiliary equipment, and instrumentations/controls such as air compressors, fuel oil pumps, condensate pumps, pneumatic and mechanical regulating valves, pneumatic control devices, flue gas analyzers, chemical feed equipment, soot blowers, plumbing and ventilating systems, valves and piping, tanks, traveling screens, fans, ducts, etc.

  • Lay out and performs steel erection and rigging work.

  • Chips and paints structures and other equipment.

  • Sets safety valves.

  • Performs general maintenance work on fences, property, buildings, and structures, and fire fighting equipment; performs welding, cutting and pipefitting as required.

  • Assists in the maintenance of diesel engines and related auxiliary equipment as conditions require.

  • Does concrete work including the construction of forms, installation of steel, cement finishing of new capital construction projects, in addition to modifications or additions to existing plants.

  • Drives Company vehicles.

  • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the work of lower classified personnel on any or all of the above operations.

  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of Mechanic Apprenticeship Program or equivalent training and experience.

  • Must pass Company Written Job Knowledge Test

  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.

    Work Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

    Lunch: 30 minutes

    Wage: $47.87 – $53.30
