Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Professional to join the Tax Operations team passionate about process improvement and change through the use of technology. This professional will have several key responsibilities including: (1) assisting business unit customers with support, analysis, and troubleshooting related to the efficiency of tax processes and identifying potential for implementation of technology solutions, (2) leading various process improvement initiatives and coordinating with tax technology where needed and (3) leveraging technologies such as alteryx to support the business in implementing solutions. This position will help ensure that NextEra Energy, Inc. remains “Best in Class” with regards to the quality and efficiency of our tax processes.

Job Description:

This fully seasoned Senior Tax Analyst’s role is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders (Customers or End Users). This includes interviewing stakeholders, gathering and compiling user requirements to understand the technology solutions they need. The Senior Tax Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help the business make good technology decisions. Defines and documents process and technology changes/solutions. Also, acting as the liaison among internal stakeholders to analyze, document, communicate and validate business and system requirements for platform applications. Will be required to support the monthly close process in order to identify and implement solutions in the tax accounting area.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred with a CPA or advanced degree a plus

• Tax and ERP software such as OneSource Tax Provision, Corptax and SAP

• Microsoft Suite including Excel, Access, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Word

• Experience in corporate tax compliance and/or tax accounting

• Project management or Six Sigma skills to facilitate excellent execution in tax projects is a plus

• Excellent verbal, written, communication, decision making, analytical, and critical thinking skills

• Aptitude to learn technologies being introduced or developed within the company including software products such as Alteryx and SAP Business Objects

• Learn Alteryx Designer and develop process automation workflows to reduce process cycle time

• Liaising between the Tax Technology and the Tax business partners

• Acting as an information source and communicator between Tax workstreams

• Creating process flow diagrams and data flow diagrams

• Understanding strategic business needs and plans for growth

• Analyzing business needs

• Finding technological solutions to meet business requirements

• Producing reports on application development and implementation

• Running systems/user acceptance testing and analyzing data

• Analyzing data to inform business decisions

Job Overview

This job is responsible for the more complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns, complex separate company corporate income tax and partnership tax returns and consolidated tax returns and related reports. Employees in this role may provide functional advice or training to less-experienced tax accountants.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists in developing tax structures and strategies that defer, minimize, or eliminate foreign and U.S. taxes on existing and prospective company investments

• Monitors all tax compliance activities and exposures, including tax return preparation and reporting, and the status of local audits and dispute resolution proceedings

• Conducts financial and economic analyses

• Develops and prepares the organization's financial plans and budgets, and interpreting financial reports and tax returns

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's - Degree

• Experience: 4+ years
