Job Description
Design, develop, and debug cloud micro-services for OCI's IoT service.
The Internet of Things service team is seeking a software development generalist to join the team and contribute across many elements of the OCI Internet of Things service. The individual will work closely with team members to develop a deep understanding of the various micro-services that comprise the IoT service including micro-service interfaces and external service APIs. They will utilize their cross-component knowledge to collaborate with micro-service owners to accelerate development and release of time critical features. With a broad understanding of the service capabilities, the individual will also serve as a developer advocate for the team, guiding Oracle partners, customers and internal stakeholders to securely integrate the IoT service into their OCI cloud applications. The individual will become a voice for stakeholders, assisting product management with alignment of service backlog and development priorities.

Responsibilities
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in software development
5+ years of experience in developing large scale distributed services / applications
Proficiency with Java, Python and Object-Oriented programming concepts
Proven experience on Oracle Database and PL/SQL (23ai preferred)
Experience implementing cloud security best practices
Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and OCI network architectures
Experience with containers and cloud native components
Superior problem solving skills
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Must be willing to work on-site at an Oracle office
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building services on a public cloud platform (OCI native services preferred)
OCI Data Foundations, Architect, Networking or Security Certifications
Experience with Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Docker and Kubernetes
Experience and understanding of cloud infrastructure services, regions, and multi-AD designs
Building CI/CD pipelines with robust testing and deployment schedules
Familiarity with Internet of Things technologies
Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
